Lindsey Smolensky grew up creating art, spending summers attending art camp where she learned about mixed media art and painting. In high school Lindsey discovered and took to collage work, and at the same time she fell in love with photography.
Shooting with a Minolta SRT 101, Lindsey experimented with light and composition for black and white images. Later, after convincing her parents to turn a household bathroom into a darkroom, she processed and printed her shots. |
Many years later Lindsey transformed her passion for mixed media art and photography into her life’s work. Texture and patterns – particularly in architecture and nature – as well as rich color palettes, inspire most of Lindsey’s work. She is constantly moved and inspired by the written works of Rilke and C.K. Willliams, travel, the art of other cultures, and the people she encounters.
Starting in 2005, Lindsey’s work was available solely by commission. Her paintings and photographs hang in private residences, corporate offices and an upscale spa. Currently, Lindsey’s original works and prints are available online and by commission. Lindsey Smolensky lives in Houston, TX with her family and five cameras: Nikon D80, Nikon N50, Nikon Coolpix L16, Diana+, and the Minolta SRT 101 that started it all. |
